| Our Heritage |
Although Christ the King Church is new to the Fox Valley, it has a rich heritage rooted in the College Church in Wheaton. Founded in 1878, College Church is an independent, inter-denominational church located near Wheaton College. Pastor R. Kent Hughes describes College Church as, 'a congregation contagious about the gospel and missions . . . The Kingdom and the gospel must be driving forces in all our lives.'
Under the direction of Pastor Hughes and following the New Testament pattern for evangelism, College Church planted its first church, Holy Trinity, in Hyde Park, Chicago in 1998 and its second, Christ the King Church, in the Fox Valley in 2001.
The leadership at Christ the King Church is committed to similar foundational principles that will build a church whose chief purpose is to glorify God. Like College Church, Christ the King Church embraces the axiom, 'In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things charity.' |
