Sunday Nights 6:15-7:45 p.m. Eastside
Community Center 14 N VanBuren St
On Sunday nights from September-May, Christ the King Church hosts an Awana ministry with three separate clubs for children ages
3 years through 5th grade. 20 adult volunteers lead our ministry to 45 children in our
Cubbies, Sparks and T&T Clubs. Each week our clubs spend time working
on our Awana handbooks, listening to large group Bible teachings, and playing
games in the gym. It is a time for young people to learn about the Bible
and have fun with their friends. The nights are filled with energy as
together we learn about Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

About
AWANA
Awana began in 1950 as a youth program at the
North Side Gospel Center in Chicago, Illinois. Lance Latham, the church pastor,
worked with Art Rorheim to develop a program that would appeal to young people,
reach them with the gospel and train them in the Lord’s work. Other churches
heard about the success of the Awana program and asked if they could use it. By
1960, Awana had registered 900 churches to start Awana.
Today, nearly 12,000 U.S. churches
run Awana with programs in all 50 states. Awana can also be found in over 4,300
churches in 109 different countries and 6 continents.
